‘Your life is what you pay attention to’
- Catherine Price
I’d never heard of Catherine Price, and to be honest I still don’t know who she is. All I know is she produced this bullet of undeniable wisdom.
Our lives are consisted of everyone and everything constantly trying to grab our attention. Family, friends, social media, work, and advertisements are all screaming for our focus.
No wonder people feel so busy and look at outlets (much like this one) to improve productivity in their lives. To find time to try and manage all these different areas is not an easy feat.
Remember what’s important. Focus on family and friends, and your job a little (they pay your wages), but not too much. No so much that the prior are neglected.
The same goes for social media, pay attention to what’s important and what adds value!
Pay attention to those you love. Not to be soppy but this is life!
Productivity Tip
‘Sometimes the best way to solve a problem
is to ignore it’
The best way to improve productivity can simply be elimination.
It’s easy to get caught up in our busy lives and we end up taking ownership for a number of problems daily. I find it’s important to consider the following 3 things when thinking about ‘problems’;
Is the problem actually a problem - Consider if the issue is as severe as you believe it to be. Is it something that is detrimental to what you’re doing or trying to achieve.
Does the problem belong to me - Is the problem mine? Will I suffer if I don’t immediately solve it? If it isn’t your problem, you can then choose to ignore. If you have the capacity then help solve it.
Does the problem need my attention - Decide if the problem will affect you in any way. Does it need your attention at all. If not, ignore it.

‘Write down great ideas immediately.
You think you’ll remember it, but you won’t’
I would certainly extend this to any thoughts or ideas. Amazingly, this is something I’ve only learned to do the last year.
It’s crazy how we can convince ourselves that we’ll remember something without writing it down.
The reality is, we don’t!
We will remember many things, but definitely not everything. It could be the forgotten thought that was the most important.
Imagine the amount of great thoughts and ideas lost, simply due to not making a quick note.
Don’t take the risk! Write is down, write it on your arm, use a notes app. Whatever the method, find one that works for you. I use the Evernote app, and it’s changed not just the quality of ideas, but the quantity of ideas.
Actions for you
Pay attention to the more important aspects of your life
Ignore problems that don’t affect you
Start taking notes. If you already do, take more
